This isn't a warehouse parking lot with boats. At Island View, you launch right from our scenic shoreline with sweeping waterfront views and space to hang before or after. Come for the paddle, stay for the peaceful vibe.
Waivers
All participants are required to complete a waiver before heading out on the water. This ensures everyone understands the risks associated with paddle sports and agrees to follow safety guidelines while using our equipment.
Here’s what to know:

Every adult must sign their own waiver.

Minors (under 18) must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Waivers can be completed online in advance (you’ll get a link after booking), or on-site before your rental begins.

A valid ID and credit card are required to be held securely on file for all rentals.

Rentals will not be issued without a completed waiver for each participant.

What You Need to Know
Learn about key safety measures you should take to enjoy a safe experience on the water when you rent a canoe or kayak.
In just 16 minutes of viewing time, you'll be equipped with basic information regarding preparations, safety guidelines, rules of the road, navigation, and more!

Kayak Rental Guidelines
Adventure starts right at the shoreline.
Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned paddler, we offer kayaks for a relaxing escape on the water. Our rentals are self-guided and perfect for a casual day of fun, fitness, or exploring the beautiful Chesapeake Bay.
All paddlers must check in, sign a waiver, and wear a life jacket—safety first, always.
Essential Eligibility
To rent, guests must be able to:
• Breathe + stay afloat independently
• Hold head upright
• Follow instructions (on your own or with help)
• Get in/out of craft independently or with a little help
• Reenter craft in deep water
• Float face-up with a properly fitted life jacket
What to Wear
• Life jackets (PFDs) must be worn and properly clipped at all times
• Water shoes recommended
• Dress for conditions—expect to get a little wet!
Clear Mind = Safe Ride
We reserve the right to cancel your rental if you're suspected to be under the influence—no refund will be given.
Weather Watch
If thunder, lightning, or strong winds roll in, head back immediately.
We will suspend rentals until 30 minutes after the last thunder or lightning.
Cancellations
Hourly Rentals
• Cancel 24+ hrs: Full refund or future credit
• No-show: Charged full price
Daily Rentals / Groups
• 7+ days: Full refund or credit
• 3+ days: 25% fee or full credit
• 24+ hrs: 50% fee or full credit
• No-show: Charged full price
If WE Cancel (weather or other)
You can:
• Reschedule
• Take a credit
• Request a refund
Note: Refunds in the form of future reservation credit do not include the booking fee in the final total. The future reservation credit will reflect the amount before the FareHarbor booking fee is applied. That means your credit might look a bit smaller, but when you use it, it will bring your future subtotal to zero—covering the base rental and removing the fee.
Respect Boat Traffic
Motorized vessels may not see you—it's your job to stay out of their way.
Pets
We love when your four-legged friends join the adventure—but we’ve got a few rules to keep everyone safe and happy:

Pets must be leashed at all times while on property.

You must clean up after your pet. Please bring bags—don’t leave surprises for the next guest.

Pet life jackets are required when on the water. We do not provide them, so please bring your own.

Pets are not allowed inside the building.

Pet owners are responsible for any damage caused to equipment or property, including scratches or rips on SUPs or decking.
Equipment Check
You’re responsible for equipment damage beyond normal wear + tear.
Please inspect gear before launch and notify staff of any issues.
Age Requirements
• 18+: Rent anything with a signed waiver
• 16–17: Paddle solo with a signed waiver
• 13–15: Must paddle with a parent/guardian
• 10–12: Tandem kayak with parent/guardian only
• Under 10: Must ride with a parent/guardian
We may adjust equipment or tow for safety.
Late Returns
We allow a 15-minute grace period.
Beyond that, your rental may be upgraded or extended with added charges.
Late fees start at $25 per person.
