Places Guests Naturally Gather
Inside the Pavilion
The pavilion is the heart of the celebration — a relaxed indoor space where guests gather for drinks, dinner, and dancing while still feeling connected to the water.
Originally built in 1928 as a waterfront dance hall, the building still carries much of its original character. The exposed beams and wood flooring have been part of the property for nearly a century, giving the space a warmth that newer venues just don’t have.
At the center of the room is the handcrafted wooden bar, built from reclaimed wood from the Naval Academy. It’s often where guests naturally drift throughout the evening — grabbing a drink, catching up with friends, and watching the dance floor come to life.
The pavilion keeps the celebration feeling open, casual, and welcoming while still offering the comfort of a covered space.

How Most Couples Use the Space
Every wedding at Island View is unique, but most couples naturally follow a layout that works well with the property.
Ceremony moments typically take place by the water or beneath the oaks, with the Bay as the backdrop. Guests then move into cocktail hour along the shoreline or pavilion, where there’s space to relax and gather.
Dinner is usually set under a tent or open-air setup on the lawn, followed by dancing either under the stars or inside the pavilion.
The property is designed to support this flow naturally, so you don’t have to force transitions or over-plan movement between spaces.
Most couples find that once they see it in person, the layout immediately makes sense.
How the Day Naturally Unfolds
This is the emotional experience of the day—not the layout.
Guests arrive and immediately settle into the waterfront setting, with the Chesapeake Bay in the background and a sense of ease that sets in right away.
There’s a natural rhythm to everything—people drift between the shoreline, the pavilion, and the open lawn without needing direction. Conversations stretch longer, moments linger, and nothing feels rushed.
As the light changes over the water, the space transforms with it. Dinner feels slower. The evening feels fuller. And the entire celebration takes on a pace that feels unforced and present.
By the time dancing begins, the energy has already settled into something effortless and connected.
And at some point in the night, couples usually pause, take it all in, and say:
“This is exactly what we wanted.”
