First, Congratulations!

This is an exciting time in your life, and it's normal to feel a range of emotions, from happiness and excitement to anxiety and stress. But don't worry, with some planning and preparation, you can make the most of this special time.

I remember when I was newly engaged, I literally had no idea what to do. I wasn't a gal who had dreamed of her wedding day so when I dove into researching everything wedding, I was completely overwhelmed. I had sticker shock when I saw the prices of, well, everything. And was in the process of convincing my now husband to elope. We didn't, but...

If you feel like this now, I can promise you, I'm glad I didn't elope. Twelve years later, our friends and family still talk about how much fun our wedding was, so I would've been sad if we didn't have those fun memories.

As a wedding venue, we've met couples in different stages of planning and the ideas they have about their wedding.

Here are some tips to help you navigate this exciting new chapter in your life:

  1. Celebrate: The first thing you should do is celebrate your engagement! Share the news with your loved ones, and take some time to enjoy this special moment together. You can plan a romantic dinner, a weekend getaway or a small gathering with close friends and family.

  2. Set a budget: Weddings can be expensive, so it's important to set a budget early on. Determine how much you and your partner are willing to spend, and then start prioritizing what's most important to you both. Do you want a big wedding with lots of guests or a more intimate ceremony? What are your must-haves and nice-to-haves?

  3. Decide on a date: Once you have a budget in mind, the next step is to decide on a date for your wedding. Consider the season, the weather, and any other events that may conflict with your chosen date. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to plan and prepare.

  4. Choose a venue: (We hope you will consider and book Island View Waterfront) Your venue will set the tone for your wedding, so choose carefully. Visit different locations and consider the style, size, and location of each one. Don't forget to ask about availability, pricing, and any additional services they offer.

  5. Start planning: Once you have your budget, date, and venue sorted, it's time to start planning the details. Create a timeline and checklist to keep track of all the tasks you need to complete. Decide on the style, color scheme, and theme of your wedding. Choose your bridal party, and start thinking about your wedding invitations, catering, music, and decorations.

  6. Enjoy the journey: Planning a wedding can be stressful, but it's also a wonderful opportunity to bond with your partner and create memories that will last a lifetime. Don't forget to take breaks and enjoy the journey together. Remember, at the end of the day, your wedding is about celebrating your love for each other.
