Hello, friends! It’s Sunday, and as I settle in with a warm drink (I might have switched to a hot toddy today—it's that time of year!), I’m taking a moment to reflect on a weekend that has been as cozy as a Christmas blanket.
This week, I finally got ahead on my holiday shopping (yes, I’m feeling pretty accomplished about it!) but still had a bit of last-minute fun browsing for the perfect gift. If you haven’t already, check out some holiday gift guides—they can really help spark ideas. I'll share my last minute holiday guide on Instagram tomorrow. Follow along HERE
I also squeezed in some much-needed downtime with a good book. Dolly Parton’s new cookbook is now in my hands, thanks to the library, and I can’t wait to try out some of her Southern recipes. Her warmth and personality shine through every page, and I’m looking forward to cooking something delicious from it soon. If you’re a fan of Dolly, it’s definitely worth a look!
Speaking of cozy things, we’ve been all about Christmas movies around here. We kicked off the season with Christmas Vacation (always a classic for laughs), followed by Miracle on 34th Street—a bit of heartwarming magic to remind us of the season’s spirit. Of course, The Santa Claus 1 & 2 made their way into the mix, too—because who doesn’t love a good holiday movie marathon? They never get old, and they always feel like home.
At Island View, we're gearing up for some beautiful winter weddings, and I’m loving how the holiday season brings an extra layer of magic to our space. There’s something about the chill in the air and the quiet of the water that makes winter weddings feel so peaceful and intimate. We’re also looking ahead to what 2025 has in store, and I’m excited to share some new ideas with all of you.
Next week is especially exciting because it’s my 14th wedding anniversary! To celebrate, my husband and I are heading to the beach for a quiet, peaceful getaway—just the two of us. I’m looking forward to a little adventure and relaxation. I’ll be sure to share a list of all the little spots we explore while we’re there—small gems that make the trip unforgettable.
This time of year always makes me reflect on the beauty of simplicity. In between the holiday hustle and wedding prep, I’ve been reminding myself to slow down and appreciate the little things—like quiet mornings, good books, and the joy of family movie nights. I hope you’re finding time to do the same.
How’s your December shaping up? I’d love to hear what simple joys have been making your season bright!
